  Kenya
Kenya is an 11 year old Schipperke. He was surrendered to another family member (sister) when his owner began having some family difficulties and no longer felt able to care for him. Because the sister not only was going to school but she also had two other dogs and lived in a condominium, she felt it was in the best interest of Kenya to be adopted out to a loving and caring family.

He is a lucky boy! He now is living with a very loving couple in Byers, CO. They have a 35 acre farm and another Schipperke for Kenya to play with. They said Kenya and Skipper and doing great together and he is "one happy camper."

  Cricket
Cricket was turned in to us from the Longmont Humane Society. She was 2 to 2 1/2 years old, unspayed and not the most amiable little dog. She did not like anyone picking her up and she had a tendency to nip at them when they tried. After a bit of love/ attention and training by her "foster family", she came around and was adopted by a couple from Canon City, CO. Kadee (they changed her name) is doing great and even is enjoying the company of their cats.

  Taz
Taz was surrendered to the CRSC because he bit the owners daughter. We aren't sure of the circumstances leading up to the actual incident but, once in the care of the "foster family" he did fine and had no signs of aggression (except with his food). Taz was adopted by a couple from Bennett, CO who treat him and consider him as one of the family. He is very happy and content in his new home and the new owners adore him.

  Skippy
Skippy was found running loose on the base near Colorado Springs. He had been a "FREE" soul for nearly two weeks before he was captured and taken in by a lady who cared for him until we were able to adopt him out. Skippy is rather small but very active and he keeps his new parents on the alert all the time. Skippy is now known as Oscar and is a typical Schip… loves to run, play and get into things. He and his owners are now one "happy family" and are living in Centennial, CO.

  Phoebe
Phoebe was found as a stray in New Mexico. She had been wearing tags from Chicago and many attempts had been made to find her owners but, to no avail. Phoebe wasn't very well socialized. She did not like cats, small children and only tolerated other dogs. Phoebe also hated being outside…she would make such a noise that neighbors began to complain so she was surrendered to us.

With a lot of work and attention, Phoebe came around somewhat and was adopted by a couple in Aurora, CO who have helped her overcome some of her problems. She lives with 3 other Schipperkes and does fine with them… Phoebe is definitely the husbands dog… she sleeps with him and stays near him as much as she possibly can. She is happy and content now.

  Noel
Noel was a 1 year old unaltered Schipperke that was too much of a handful for her owners. She needed more training and attention than they had time to give her so they did the right thing and asked us to find her a good home. Last I heard from her new owners in/near Loveland, CO. She is doing great!!! Noel and her buddy--their older Schipperke--are having a blast running, playing and getting their tummies scratched. Another happy ending!!

  Shadow
Shadow was around 5 years old when she came into the program. She had been purchased when she was 9 weeks old and had been kept outside with a large Lab. She likes children, men and women and especially liked having her tummy rubbed. Shadow had no skills when she was taken in as a "foster child" by a couple in Grand Junction. She didn't know how to play and was a bit on the shy side.

She now loves to play with other dogs, have her tummy rubbed, loves car rides and go for walks. The couple just couldn't let her go and decided to adopt her on a permanent basis. She and they are very happy and content with the outcome.

  Chantey
Chantey was a retired show dog. She is a sweet little gal who loved attention and liked other dogs as well. She was very friendly to everyone and never seemed to have any aggression problems. Chantey was adopted by a gentleman in Pensicola, FL and they are enjoying the company of the other. He had lost his long time buddy around two years ago and was looking for another Schip to take with him on his sailboat….Chantey was the one for him!! He now signs off his e-mails as "Chantey's Captain!" Guess we know who rules the roost in that family eh?

  Marlena
Marlena is another retired show dog. She, like Chantey, were accustomed to people and children as well as other dogs. She was adopted by a couple in Manhattan. Last I heard….they were loving her and she was loving them and her new home. She enjoys her walks in the park and all the attention she is getting.

  Trixie
Trixie came from the Glennwood Springs area. She was only around 10 months to a year old when her story was brought to our attention. She was left outside almost all the time and had no shelter. She was brought back to Colorado by a couple who were going to keep her permanently but ended up not being able to do so. Trixie was a wild little gal. She jumped on people, would bark with a high pitched bark and was aggressive with her food. After she was shown that these actions were not necessary to attain the attention she was wanting, she improved a lot.

Trixie now lives in Denver, CO and loves her new home and her new owner. She guards the home and "her human" very dilligently.

  Sweetpea
Not much information was available on Sweetpea when we got her. She was around one year old, unaltered but seemed to be very good with children but did much better with older children…like 7 years or on up. Sweetpea stayed in her "foster home" for a month or so and then was adopted by a couple from Silver City, NM. They had just lost their 15 year old Schipperke and were wanting one to help fill the void. Sweetpea is an active little gal but is very much loved by her new owners.

  Ringo
Ringo was found running at large in Adams County. He is a very sociable dog but he did not like being cornered or hovered over. He got along great with other dogs and with children. Ringo (now called Mongo) was adopted by a couple from Windsor, CO and they absolutely adore him. He has put on weight, loves to sleep on his back in their lap and snores during the news. Per his owner… Mongo is very happy and has a forever home right here with us.

  Sissy
Sissy was around one year old and was surrendered by a couple who said they just didn't have the time or energy to care for her like she needed. She nipped at one of the children and the owner was afraid it would continue to get worse so we were contacted.

Sissy was adopted (and her name was changed to Smidgen) and is now a happy companion to Mongo… yes, the same couple who took Mongo (formerly Ringo) also adopted Smidgen. She is doing well but still needs some training on certain things. Smidgen fell in love with the husband and they are smitten with each other now.

  Noz
Noz is another 3 year old that had been adopted by a Colorado family and then returned. Noz loves to climb and can get over baby gates with no problem. He does not run away, just climbs out to be near "his human". Noz is very friendly to all species -- humans and animals and is being adopted by a gentleman from Spokane, WA.

Dot has been adopted by Donna and Les of Casper, WY

Dash was adopted by Bonnie of Evansville, WY

Pepper was adopted by Tracy of Nampa, ID

Zoe, (now Rosie), has been adopted by Stacy and Skip of Fort Collins, CO
